Jesus said, “our Father knows what we need before we ask Him” (Matt 6:8). This does not mean that you should not ask for things because in the next chapter, Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you (Matt 7:7, ESV).

But the Amplified Version says it with enthusiasm! “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” And the following verse: “For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.”

The Amplified puts great emphasis on persistence in prayer. Persistant means to not giive up, or not let go till you have an answer. It can be understood as pressing in, or a pushing through. “PUSH” can be used as an acronym for persistance in prayer: Pray Until Something Happens.

PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS!!

Ask and keep on asking… seek and keep on seeking… knock and keep on knocking…

Don’t stop until you have your answer, or your miracle, or whatever it is you need. Remembering it is God, your very good and faithful Father, to whom you make your appeal. You can trust that He hears and answers you. The rest of the passage in Matthew 7 speaks to the heart of the Father in wanting to answer and meet your need:

9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake? 11 If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him. (Matt 7:9-11, AMP).

The contrast here is, even human fathers want to meet the needs of their kids, but how much more will God answer your prayers and provide for you, His child!
