In Matthew 6:8 Jesus said, “your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” And He repeated it in 6:32, “your heavenly Father knows that you need them all..” The “all” means, all our needs. The following verse contains the same langugage: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (6:33). Here again, the “things” are all the things we need for life… ALL. THE. THINGS!

But many of don’t seek first the kingdom. Many of us instead, get stuck in the cares of the world. They are real cares. Jesus does not dimmish our need. But His promise is that He will take care of the them. If we begin to SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM, over all the other things of this world, HE WILL TAKE CARE OF OUR NEEDS. Because OUR FATHER KNOWS WHAT WE NEED BEFORE WE ASK HIM!

Further, Jesus said anxiety is the fruit of not trusting God, not believing Him, Matthew 6:25-34, ESV:

Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself…

Many believers wrestle with anxiety about life without connecting it to a lack of faith in God and His ability to meet ALL our needs. Yet this is what Jesus promised to do. He promised to take care of us.

Anxiety in the believer is like a red flag. If we feel anxiety, it is because we are worried and concered about wrong things, things God has promised us to take care of. We have allowed fear to grip out hearts, rather than trusting God with every area of our life.

Let God wrestle this out of your life. If you are prone to anxiety, surrender it. It is a lack of faith, a lack of trust in either His goodness or His abilty to meet your need; maybe both. So repent! And ask Him to align your heart with His heart. Ask Him to grow your faith. Take Him at His word and believe His Word: God is a GOOD FATHER WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU ASK HIM and HE WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF YOU!
