There are a lot of things we can derive confidence from. But if our confidence is in ourselves, our accomplishments, it’s only a human confidence. It’s not a confidence that comes from faith in God. It’s faith in human ability. Even though we can make it look like and sound like it’s faith in God…

No man can boast in the presence of God, 1Corinthians 1:29.

This what the Lord says:

Let not the one who is wise and skillful glory and boast in his insight;

Let not the one who is mighty and powerful glory and boast in his strength;

Let not the one who is rich in (physical gratification and) earthly wealth glory and boast in his temporal satisfactions and earthly riches;

But let the one who boasts glory and boast in this, that he understands and knows Me personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character, that I am the Lord who practices loving-kindness, justice and righteousness on the earth.

For in these things I delight, says the Lord.

Jeremiah 9:23-24, AMP.

Our boasting reveals where our faith and strength come from. And it reveals either a pride-filled self-sufficient heart, or a a humble heart. We are wise to save all our boasting for Who Jesus is and what He does,1Corinthians 1:31.
