God spoke through Isaiah and asked:

Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

~Isaiah 58:6-7 (NKJV)

These verses are what we are going to pursue this month, prayer and fasting that has our families, friends, city, surrounding region, and our nation as the focus:

  1. For the increase of Light and Truth into every area of our nation, from individual hearts and homes, all the way to the highest places in government.
  2. For every burden, chain, and heavy yoke to be broken off people. In Jesus, every one of these must come down.
  3. That we become radical lovers of God, are able to receive increasingly more of His love into our hearts, and as we are transformed by His love, become radical and unstoppable lovers of people. Because, as we are filled and transformed by His love, we become conduits of His love for others. People will encounter Jesus as we live in His love and allow it to be poured out to others through us. This is what transforms cities.
  4. Part of “seeking first the Kingdom of God” (Matt 6:33), is looking to meet the needs of others. And when we take care of others, God promises to take care of our needs. We can trust Him. He’s a good Father.
