Ever wonder what to say to someone to explain the gospel and ask them to give their life to Jesus? Here is a great cheat sheet. You can print this off and put it on your fridge. Learn some of these verses, or all of them.

The Gospel:

Every man, woman, young and old person has sinned and is in need of God’s saving grace (Romans 3:23, NIV).

Our sin separates us from God (Ephesians 4:18). Sin is the wrong things we do, our mistakes and our selfish ways, living our own life, apart from God, but…

God shows His love for us in that Jesus Christ died for us while we were still sinning (Romans 5:8, NIV).

He loves us and is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance (2Peter 3:9, NIV).

His gift of salvation is free (Ephesians 1:6,7 and Romans 3:24, NIV) to anyone who repents. Repent simply means to say a heartfelt sorry for living our own way and a recognition that we need Jesus.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9, NIV).

Everyone who believes in Jesus has eternal life in him (John 3:15).

Then you can lead people in a prayer to say something like this: (It doesn’t have to be exact. There just needs to be a ‘sorry’ and a confession that they believe in Jesus)…

God, I am sorry for my sins and I ask you to forgive me.
Jesus I believe in you and ask you to come into my heart.
Be my Lord and Savior and Friend.
Help me to live the way you want me to live.
Help me to love you, always.
Thank you for loving me.
Amen.
