A verse that most of us would rather not be in the bible is:

When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your sins, Mark 11:25.

We would rather not think about our forgiveness being contingent on our forgiving others.

But the reality is, when we have been forgiven so much, how can we ever hold anything against another?

We have to let go of everything. Not keep any records of wrongs. Not holding another person in debt at all because our own debt has been fully removed. And Jesus righted all our wrongs.

If forgiveness was an impossible thing for us, God wouldn’t ask us to do it. The fact that God asks us to forgive everyone and everything means we totally can, totally and wholly.

If we are having a hard time forgiving, all we need do is ask God, who empowers us to forgive by His great grace and love for us.

He never asks us to do anything without first giving us the ability to do it. We can trust Him.
